This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide responsible gambling services. It is suitable for learners working or planning to work in hospitality venues where gambling activities are offered and where responsible service practices are required.

  • On successful completion, learners will receive a Statement of Attainment for SITHGAM022 Provide responsible gambling services.

Training can be delivered face-to-face, in a simulated venue environment, or through blended delivery depending on your organisation’s setup and learner needs.

Accreditation

Signature Training College is registered with and accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and is authorised to deliver Nationally Recognised Training within the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Students are required to:
  • Have sound language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Be able to participate in practical café-based activities
  • Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Provide valid identification as required for enrolment
  • Complete any pre-training review or Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills check if applicable
Assessment for this unit is designed to build and confirm the skills and knowledge required to provide responsible gambling services in line with current workplace expectations and legislative requirements. Students will complete a combination of learning activities, scenario-based discussions, and competency-based assessment tasks within scheduled timeframes.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills

  • Identify responsible gambling practices and apply them in customer service situations

  • Respond appropriately to gambling-related concerns in line with venue procedures and relevant legislation

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers about responsible gambling support and services

  • Recognise signs of problem gambling and refer matters according to workplace requirements

  • Complete required documentation or reporting processes where applicable

 
Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge
  • The purpose of responsible gambling practices and the role of staff in supporting safe service environments
  • Relevant venue procedures, legislation, and regulatory requirements relating to responsible gambling services
  • Common signs and indicators of problem gambling behaviour
  • Appropriate communication techniques for handling sensitive situations with customers
  • Available support services, exclusions, and referral options that may apply in gambling environments
  • Documentation, reporting, and record-keeping requirements relevant to responsible gambling service delivery
 
Important Note
This unit must be delivered and assessed in line with current state or territory legislative and industry requirements relevant to responsible gambling services.

If you are a new enrolling student, undertaking Nationally recognized training, you will need a USI number to receive your Qualification/Statement of Attainment. If you do not have a USI you will not be able to receive a qualification. To create a USI account, go to the website: www.usi.gov.au
