Traineeship

How does a traineeship work?

Traineeships typically last for one year and are made up of two main forms of training: classroom-based learning opportunities and on-the-job training. You’ll receive your Certificate from a nationally recognised program.

Types of traineeships:

  • New Entrant Traineeships
  • Existing Worker Traineeships
  • Employee-based Traineeships

What you need to know before contacting STC?

  • First, you must qualify for the traineeship program by finding an employer who is willing to hire you.
  • After that, the employer and trainee will sign a ‘training contract’, which must be approved by the AASN and the State/Territories Training Authority.
  • Then you should choose STC as your training provider.
  • Upon receiving the proposed training plan, STC will evaluate it based on the trainer’s availability and location of the workplace.

Perks for Employees

  • Employees are provided structured learning options that are accredited by the Nationally Accredited Training Program.
  • Certifications can be applied as credits towards further training
  • Paid employment under an industrial arrangement
  • A training contract between you and your employer

  • Issue of a Certificate of Proficiency on completion of the traineeship that’s held in high regard by many employers nationally
