This qualification reflects the roles of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability, or some other reason.

Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to induvial support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical, and procedural knowledge as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

 
  • Upon successful completion of all units of competency for this qualification, the student will be awarded CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support.

  • This qualification will provide you a pathway to work as Accommodation Support Worker, Personal Care Worker, Residential Care Worker. Support Worker, Assistant in Nursing, Care assistant, Case service employees, Care worker, Community worker, Community House Worker, Community Support Worker and Disability Service Officer (in Some jurisdictions)

Course duration- 52 weeks

Delivery Arrangement

Training delivery as determined by the Unit of Competency which includes:

  • Role Play/Observation in Class
  • Group Activities
  • Written Examination in class under trainers’ supervision
  • Case studies/Scenarios
  • Research Assignments
  • Workplace Assessments

 

Training Calendar

It is planned that a student will complete all 15 units of competency within 52 weeks.

  • delivered over 36 weeks of classroom-based training and assessment
  • 16 weeks school break
  • 20 hours of face-to-face study per week

Accreditation

Signature Training College is registered with and accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and is authorised to deliver Nationally Recognized Training within the Australian Qualifications Framework.
There is no formally prescribed course entry requirement for this qualification. However, Signature Training College does require the following to satisfy the entry criteria:
  • Student should be 18 years of age or over
  • Completed year 12 (HSC or Equivalent)
  • Have sound communication skills:
  • Provide IELTS certificate showing a score of 5.5 or above (or equivalent)
  • Undertake and successfully complete Signature Training College Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment
  • Be able to satisfactorily participate in preenrolment interview

This qualification requires Flu Shot before going to Work-Placement because it is a mandatory requirement for some of the facilities. The students must complete at least 120 hours of work placement complete this component of the course.

Education pathways after completing CHC33021  Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) may include:
  • CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support 
  • CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services.
If you are a new enrolling student, undertaking Nationally recognized training, you will need a USI number to receive your Qualification/Statement of Attainment. If you do not have a USI you will not be able to receive a qualification. To create a USI account, go to the website: www.usi.gov.au
