What will I learn?

This nationally recognised qualification could enable you to find entry-level work as an Assistant in Nursing or Nursing Support Worker

The Certificate III in Health Services Assistance will enable students to learn the basics of health services assistance. This course will equip students with knowledge about allied health administration and medical terminology. You will learn how to work with, and facilitate the empowerment of, people with acute conditions, people with disabilities, people with mental health issues, people from diverse backgrounds and people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. Students will also learn how to respond effectively and efficiently to behaviours of concern, and how to provide first aid and basic emergency life support.

 

Students are required to participate in work placement through a Structured Workplace Learning arrangement. This enables you to get on-the-job experience and develop your practical skills in a real workplace.

All students are expected to comply with the eligibility requirements: 

  • A good ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance Certificate and Work with Children Check; 
  • Ability to work and communicate respectfully with background from different national backgrounds; 

Student is provided upto 12 months to complete the course. Ongoing support is provided to all students to ensure they complete the course within a timely manner

  • Existing workers are encouraged to apply for RPL.
